Cabinets FAQs

How do I find out the ohm output of my amp? Connecting the proper cabinet to your amp is extremely important; failure to connect the correctly wired cabinet to some older and boutique tube amplifiers can cause serious damage to the amps. If you are unsure of the ohm output on your amp or what cabinet you need contact us at support@hardtruckers.com or contact the amplifier's manufacturer before ordering.

After I receive my cabinet do I have to do anything before I play? Yes, after you take the cabinet out of its packaging look it over to make sure there was no damage done during shipping. Make sure the ohms on your amp and cabinet match up. Then… all you have to do is plug_and_play.

What is the HEX KEY that is included for? From time to time the speakers might need to be tightened and or changed; the hex key is used on the speaker clamps. Be sure not to over-tighten the speaker clamps as you can damage the wood/bamboo.

Does my Cabinet need any preventive maintenance? Not really; just treat it with lots of love and kindness and your Hard Truckers cabinet will take care of everything else.

Can I buy an 8 ohm cabinet? Yes, unless noted we send out 4 ohm cabinets (two 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel). We will be happy to wire your cabinet however you might need it. Please make sure you get the properly wired cabinet for your amp. Know your ohms.

Can I buy an empty speaker cabinet? Load a Classic Hard Truckers cabinet with the speakers of your choice. If you are interested in an empty cabinet contact us at support@hardtruckers.com.

How do I order a Hemp Cabinet? The hemp cabinets are currently offered both online, for models in stock, and as a special order item for models with exotic hardwood trim. Please drop us a line or give us a call to have your custom hemp bamboo cabinet made or discuss wood choices.

Is there an additional charge for a specific hardwood edging? Our standard hemp cabinet comes with your choice of either maple or vermilion edging. Higher end hardwoods are available but are subject to availability. Actual costs vary upon type of wood. Special item orders can be easily made.

Do you offer 2 x 15” cabinets or a Bass Cabinet? In the near future the Hard Truckers’ will be able to announce several new cabinets and some top notch road gear. Currently being researched, and/or under development are a 1 x 12”, a 3 x 12”, 4 x 12”, and 2 x 15” cabinets, different configurations of bass cabinets, top of the line Belden Guitar Cables, hand made aluminum speaker grills, combo amp, and, rack and road gear that will turn the industry upside down. Grill Covers FAQs

Will the grill covers fit any cabinet? Yes, our grill covers fit both the hemp and baltic birch cabinets.

What is the difference between the silk and muslin grill covers? They are two different materials. They have different textures and feel. Muslin is the more durable of the two. Silk is an incredibly strong fiber but in situations of high humidity they may tend to loosen slightly on the frame. If this occurs simply lay the frame face down and iron using your iron's "silk" setting.

How are the grill covers held in place? There is metal on the corners of the grill cover frames that come in contact with the rare earth magnets on the cabinet which holds the grill cover safely in place.

Can I order a Custom Grill Cover? Eventually. Drop us a line and we can come up with a plan.

Speakers FAQs

Is there any break-in period on the Tone Tubby Speakers? We think they sound great right out of the box but, like any speaker, or a pair of shoes, they get better with time. Any signal, guitar, music, pink noise etc. will speed up the break in period. (Reprinted from www.tonetubby.com)

What is the difference between the Hempcone and a paper cone? Basically the hempcone just produces more frequencies that you have ever heard out of a paper cone. It has more bass response, better mids and a sweeter high range unlike a paper cone’s shrill highs and lack of true bass response. There is no cone cry or ghost notes with the hempcone. Can I get speakers other than 8 ohms in my cabinet? Yes, we offer Tone Tubby speakers in both 8 and 16 ohms. If you need anything other than 8 ohms give us a call and we will be more than happy to hook you up.

Do you carry Tone Tubby ceramic speakers? Yes. We offer both 12” Tone Tubby speakers; ceramic and alnico. You can even get one of each in your cabinet and experience “THE BOMB”. Contact us for more information.

Do you carry any other speaker manufacturer than Tone Tubby? Yes and No. Currently we only carry Tone Tubby speakers and JBL E-120 speakers re-coned in hemp by Tone Tubby. If you are interested in JBL E-120’s with hempcones please drop us a line to check on their availability.

How do I order a cabinet with JBL E-120’s re-coned in hemp? E-120’s are a special order item. Please drop us a line to check on availability.

Shipping and Handling FAQs

How long will it take to get my cabinet? In stock orders will usually be filled and shipped in a few business days. UPS transit times will vary upon location and tier of transit. If you have any questions about availability of an item or shipping times please send us an email or call.

Do you ship internationally? No. Sorry, but at this time we are only shipping orders within the continental U.S.

Do you accept Credit Cards? Checks? Yes; we accept Visa, MasterCard, and Checks. Personal checks must clear.

What if something is out of stock? All of our cabinets are handmade works of art. We take our time constructing our hand-made cabinets to make sure they come out perfect. There is no way to give you a definite length of time, but we can say that “we promise that we will keep you updated on the status of your order and promise that it will be worth the wait”. Estimated backorder delivery dates will be given on a case by case basis. Tone Tubby speakers are subject to the same delays.

Warranty, Returns and Repair FAQs

What if I have a problem with my Hard Truckers Cabinet? Give us a call and one of our Creative Sound Specialists will get you going.

What is your Warranty and Return Policy?
Limited One-Year Warranty: If our cabinets prove defective in materials or workmanship within one year of purchase, we will arrange for repair or replacement. This warranty does not include damage to the product resulting from negligence, accident or misuse. This warranty does not include shipping. Please retain your dated sales invoice or credit card receipt and call us at (404) 496-4049 for a return authorization number and shipping information. Tone Tubby speakers are covered by Tone Tubby’s warranty, which can be found at www.tonetubby.com

Return Policy: If you are not completely satisfied with our product after three (3) days of its delivery, it is returnable. Just call us at (404) 496-4049 for a return authorization number and upon receipt of the unit(s), in the same condition as when they were sent, with all original packaging, we will refund you the purchase price less a 25% restocking fee. Shipping costs are non-refundable. Customer is responsible for return shipping costs. All refunds will be made in the form of a check. There are NO REFUNDS on Any Custom Orders. Custom orders include special projects, items not normally carried by the Hard Truckers and cabinets made to order; this includes "Fatty" cabinets. Return policy is subject to change without notice. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask one of our sound specialists.

What is your Privacy Policy? The Hard Truckers take your privacy seriously and will not give out, sell or release any personal information to anyone at anytime. Period!
